Lighting Efficiency Standards
The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007 was passed with the intention of moving the United States toward greater energy security, partly by increasing the standards for product efficiency. Section 321 of EISA, Efficient Light Bulbs, which establishes higher minimum efficiency levels for medium screw base bulbs, will be implemented beginning January 1, 2012. (The start date for California is January 1, 2011.)
EISA will have a direct impact on the LED replacement lamp market. Incandescent light bulbs, as we know them, will no longer be available. This will create opportunities for more efficient lighting technologies, such as LEDs and CFLs.
EISA Summary
LED Lighting Facts has developed a summary of the EISA legislation to overcome some common misconceptions about the requirements for light bulbs. This overview highlights essential information for anyone in the light bulb industry.

True Cost Fact Sheet
With the changes in standards and advancing technologies with light bulbs, it is important for consumers to understand efficient light choices, including the energy and money savings associated with LEDs and CFLs. LED Lighting Facts developed a fact sheet to help explain the true cost of a light bulb, which goes beyond that price paid at the register.
